In the stories The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant and Rocking Horse Winner by D.H Lawrence, we are presented with ii characters named Mathilde and Hester whose values and priorities are superficial and materialistic. Each of them are slimy with their life, obsessed with money and are unable to love those cranky them.
